I surely understand why you can be reluctant. Node.js and Gulp could be a good solution but not all people are familiar with this kind of things, including me :-)))
I also know that LESS is not so popular as in the past (unfortunately), infact software like PrePros, cna compile many types of languages, suche as LESS, SASS, CoffeScript, MarkDown, Stylus, ecc. Is a very useful tool but in my opinion a complete suite should include these kind of features.
I know that this could be a not indifferent work but I'd love to have new functionalities, to use Kit as my unique software (actually I have an Kit, PrePros, Git, Continous Integration..) to do my develops.
Maybe you could think about additional modules (=extension) to Kit core, to add more features not needed by all people but by many of them....
