I wonder if Chami or anyone else can help me. When you want to type in the same thing to replace other stuff of the same thing, if that makes sense, it's supposed to be Cntrl + l and it replaces, but for me all it does is just delete the line I'm editing. It would be great to get this working.
Cheers for any advice
If you place the caret on the first instance of the text that you want to replace and press Ctrl+I, it'll find the next instance of the same text and add a new caret. Repeat this until all occurrences are added. And then you can type or paste over all of them at the same time.
You can also hold Ctrl key down and double click (or drag select) text. Repeat for all items that you want to replace and type
Yeh I've seen the vid, but all it does for me is delete. I wonder if it's a difference between US v UK keyboards.
It's not a big deal, but useful. Could also do it with find and replace of course
Hmm... I'm assuming you're using the latest TreeHouse build? Does double clicking text with Ctrl down work? If it's a keyboard difference, does "Edit > Find select multi edit" menu option work? If the menu works but not the shortcut, we can figure something out from there.
Yes latest build with Win10.
None of the techniques work, but going to edit doesn't delete.
Don't worry about it, if no one else has said anything, might just be my machine or me
If you or anyone else think there's a bug here I'll be glad to take a look. I just need to know the exact steps you're taking and what it's doing.
I'll do a screencast if I get time.
It would be interesting to know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, but honestly for me it would be handy but your doing fantastic work with this, I really appreciate all your hard work on the best editor out there IMO. Cheers
ctrl-I works just as Chami says. Win10HTML-Kit Tools for Windows 20160801
Yeh it must be me, although I've tried everything. No worries, it's just one of those things. I'll do a screencast when I get a bit time.
This does not work for me either. Watched the video. When I press Ctrl i once, the Selection Matching button activates. Nothing else happens. If I press Ctrl i again, it goes to the next matching item, but I do not get multiple cursors.
I'm a new user with version 20161015 on Windows 10.
Welcome to the forum!
Do you by any chance have the color picker docked? Please see if closing it helps, or you could try temporarily switching to a new profile under the "Kit > Profiles > Extra > Temp" menu.
No it's never worked for me on two laptops, using Windows 10. I get the same problem as Vwatson. Don't know how many times I've watched the video, but there is something wrong with it. I was going to do a screencast, completely forgot about it.
I never use manage profiles.
Just to stick my nose in here, I've always highlighted the text I want replaced and the use CTRL+I, rather than place the cursor next to the item I want to edit.Where I ran into problems was when I first started working with the multiple items and found you can't paste to replace the multiple items, but must type.
Mulitple items I didn't read Chami comment correctly first time around, however that is the fix for anyone else that's having issue, or at least on mine. It's all about taking down the color picker.
Thank you for the follow up Nigel! Glad to hear that multiple selections work for you with the color picker window closed.
So picking up from there, here's how to keep the color picker window and still use multiple selections: hide the "Color Preview" section (until it's updated to handle multiple carets).
Colors are previewed as underlines and mouse hover popups anyway:
Yes it works. I thought I'd replied to this but obviously hadn't.
